Kia Middle East and Africa has confirmed the official regional debut of its all-electric lineup, unveiling the Kia EV9, Kia EV6, and the EV5 concept during a dedicated event held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from October 5 to 14, 2023. The launch marked the brand's first dedicated electric vehicles built specifically for the region, and Kia marked the occasion by inviting journalists and VIP customers to get behind the wheel firsthand.
Test Drives Across Some of Doha's Most Iconic Locations
Members of the regional press were given the opportunity to test drive both the EV9 and EV6 across a route that included Msheireb Downtown Doha — widely regarded as one of the world's most sustainable smart cities — along with Katara Cultural Village and Al Bayt Stadium. A separate VIP experience followed on October 8, giving Kia's top customers a chance to explore the brand's exhibition stand and interact with the new models up close.

He pointed to the company's strong momentum since its recent rebrand, adding that the arrival of the EV9 and EV6 is expected to further strengthen Kia's standing in the market going forward.

The Kia EV9: A Seven-Seat Electric SUV Built for Families
Set to arrive in the region during the fourth quarter of 2023, the EV9 is Kia's flagship electric SUV, seating up to seven passengers while still delivering strong performance and a driving range of up to 528 kilometers. Fast-charging capability is a standout feature, with the EV9 able to replenish its battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes — making it practical for both short commutes and longer road trips.
The SUV's design highlights include a dual sunroof, a digital light grille, and a distinctive welcome-lighting sequence that greets occupants as they approach the vehicle. On the safety front, the EV9 comes equipped with forward collision avoidance, lane keeping and lane tracking assistance, and blind-spot monitoring. Comfort-oriented features round out the package, including remote smart parking assistance, digital side and center mirrors, and available swivel, relaxation, and massage seats.
The Kia EV6: A Sportier, More Compact Alternative
Sitting alongside the EV9 in Kia's new lineup is the EV6, a compact mid-size SUV that seats up to five passengers and offers a driving range of up to 528 kilometers. As the first model built on Kia's E-GMP electric architecture, the EV6 previously earned recognition as a Global High Performance Vehicle of the Year, and it backs that reputation up with even faster charging than its larger sibling — going from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 18 minutes.
Inside, the EV6 leans into a sporty, driver-focused cabin, featuring ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and a combination of black suede upholstery with vegan leather armrests. Exterior touches include a matte black front grille, a sound-absorbing windshield, and privacy glass for the rear windows. Tech-wise, the EV6 offers a dual curved display, intelligent cruise control, and the same suite of driver-assistance features found in the EV9. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, letting owners use the car's battery to power household appliances or electronic devices directly.
Availability
Both the Kia EV9 and Kia EV6 are scheduled to reach dealerships across the Middle East and Africa region during the final quarter of 2023.
