Mercedes-AMG has unveiled an updated version of its high-performance GT63 S E Performance for the 2024 model year, and the good news for enthusiasts is that the car's staggering 831-horsepower output remains untouched. The refresh brings a redesigned front end, a new exterior color option, and a handful of minor tweaks as the updated super sedan hits European showrooms.

A Face Borrowed from the New AMG GT Coupe

The most noticeable change is up front, where the GT63 S E Performance now wears styling cues lifted straight from the latest AMG GT Coupe. The lower grille opening is larger and slimmer than before, flanked by sporty vertical air intakes on either side. The multi-beam LED headlights now wrap around an elongated grille that gains extra black trim along its lower edge, giving the sedan a slightly more aggressive stance.

Modest Updates Inside the Cabin

Interior changes are minor but welcome. An electric sunroof and a wireless phone charger between the rear seats are now standard equipment. Mercedes has also refreshed the MBUX infotainment software with dedicated AMG display modes that drivers can individually configure. A Burmester surround-sound system comes standard, while buyers chasing the ultimate audio experience can step up to the optional Burmester High-End 3D system.

Mechanically Unchanged — And That's a Good Thing

Under the skin, nothing has changed for the 2024 model, which still relies on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup built around a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 producing 639 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission.
That gasoline engine is joined by a small electric motor on the front axle rated at 21 horsepower, along with a second, more powerful electric motor on the rear axle producing 204 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, routed through its own two-speed gearbox. Combined, the gas and electric powertrains deliver a total of 831 horsepower (843 PS by the European measurement standard) and 1,033 lb-ft of torque.

Performance Numbers

Despite tipping the scales at 2,380 kilograms (about 5,247 pounds) — a natural consequence of carrying both a combustion engine and a hybrid battery system — the GT63 S E Performance uses its 4Matic all-wheel-drive system to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 196 mph (315 km/h).

Pricing and Availability

Buyers can now order their GT in a new metallic white finish, though wheel designs and upholstery choices carry over unchanged from the outgoing model. Pricing for the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance starts at €207,708 in Germany, which converts to roughly $218,686 at current exchange rates.
